New Church, Dead Laptop

by James on Oct.14, 2007, under Christian Stuff, General

We have been looking for a church since we first moved in and visited a few churches in our area. In the end we decided on All Saints Woodford Wells. Mainly because it has good bible based teaching and an evening service each week so Susan can sleep in on a Sunday. We are going to a home group which is full of people our age so things are going well.

On a sad note our old laptop has decided to give up the ghost. The fan has been going for a while but I hard drive has died. Of course being a computer geek it’s not that sad really ;-) . As it means I get to buy a new one. So I have been eying up the Acer Aspire 5920. Designed by BMW with a 2Ghz Intel Core Duo processor and 1GB Video ram this baby rocks the party.
Our New Laptop
It should be arriving on Monday. Oh happy days!

Back from New Wine

by James on Aug.01, 2006, under Christian Stuff

Susan and I had a fantastic week! I rekindled my passion for prayer ministry and on the first night prayed for someone’s eyes and God healed him. I was also in a seminar on healing on the streets. The presenter asked for people with bad backs to come forward. Two people came up and we put their legs together to find out one leg was longer than the other. I prayed thanking Jesus for his awesome healing power and that God would make them the same length. In front of my eyes the shorter leg lengthened a centimetre or so. So it was amazing to see Jesus healing people.

On Thursday we went out into the streets buying people ice creams just trying to show people that God loves them. One girl was sitting in a corner store looking at a handful of copper pieces and staring fervently at the prices of the ice creams trying to find one she could afford. We tapped her on the shoulder and offered to buy her an ice cream and she was ecstatic. She just couldn’t believe that we were seriously going to buy her and ice cream and wanted to know why.. So that was great too.

New Wine had a 5 a side football competition on Friday. There were 64 teams in a knock out competition and amazingly our team won. Our team played really well as a team and everyone really contributed. It would have been nice to score more than one goal in open play but hey if you’re good at penalties why not play to that.

I’m struggling a little with how I fit into Pip ‘n’ Jay at the moment. I felt really equipped to do prayer ministry and plant a church at new wine so would appreciate your prayers for what that means coming back to Bristol.

Over the weekend we went to the Bristol Harbour Festival and I checked out Hope church.

New Wine here we go!

by James on Jul.22, 2006, under Christian Stuff

Tomorrow we are going to New Wine camp with 41 other people from our church. I’m really looking forward to it.
Especially if the weather is as good as it’s been. It’s the hottest July on record. The five day forecast is for sun between 15 and 29 degrees which is all good.

Today I went help organise the church site and tell the guys where to park our caravan tonight… exciting stuff. It’s pretty flash with an oven and everything so Susan wont miss her creature comforts.

Also still beavering away on the church website at http://pipnjay.org.uk/joomla/

Anyway the development site is located at http://pipnjay.org.uk/joomla/

Do you have time to help? Please contact me, I need as many hands to the pump as possible!

Perhaps you can just help me with what you would like to see on a church webpage.

End of Week Upper

by James on Jul.08, 2006, under Christian Stuff, Entertainment

Things are looking up towards the end of the week.

Alpha at the Webbers
Susan and I are running and alpha course at our house for work colleagues. There are currently 6 people coming along to the first one and a few maybes. The course runs for 12 weeks and involves a meal, talk about Christianity and discussion. It’s really exciting that so many people from work are keen on coming.

Gallery back
I have finally got my web gallery back up and running. Not all the photos are there and it’s a little slow. But there are pictures of Ireland and our latest France trip to Provence.

It’s Raining
It’s actually been raining a little recently, Susan seems to like it as it’s now a bit cooler at night for sleeping. However our roof at work is leaking so I currently have 5 rubbish bins around my desks collecting drips. Given theres actually a decent couple of inches of water I’m actually thinking of getting goldfish.
