Luxembourg
Lacklustre Luxembourg

Arriving in Luxembourg by train was an impressive experience. After so much flat landscape in Holland it was quite relieving to see some hills, ravines and valleys. It was a pretty amazing view of the city from the towering train bridge as our train from Maastricht drudged it’s way into town.
We had a quick look around the old parts of town and then hunger and lack of daylight got the better of us and we decided to look for food. Sadly even though the were numerous restaurants our budget and lack appetite for adventure meant we found ourselves with cheap eats at Pizza Hut.
In the morning we climbed through the old castle caves. We also waited patiently outside the Royal Palace for the Duke’s son to arrive (he was getting married that morning). Unfortunately all we got was the major and a few secret service men. This was due to the fact his wife was already pregnant and there was a little royal embarrassment.
It wasn’t long before we realised that two kiwi backpackers don’t fit in with the usual Luxembourg business crowd. Fortunately about this time we had finished a rather lacklustre trip to the national bank museum so weren’t upset about travelling back to Belgium.
