Wedding and Visiting Families

by James on May.02, 2007, under New Zealand

New Zealand was pretty hectic.

We spent a few days with Susan’s parrents

1174

Then things were pretty busy as Susan helped with Glynnis and Nicks wedding
Susan doing some finishing make up touches for Glynnis

Then we flew to Whangarei for a few days to see my folks before going to the US
1177

We were amazed at the huge increase in house prices and have realised we were going to travel less and save save more. Fortunately I am married to accountant so saving is something we are pretty good at.

The good thing for us was apart from house prices not much has changed which was very reassuring.

Better be home soon

by James on Apr.23, 2007, under New Zealand, OE

We have made it back to NZ.

We left the UK at 9:30 am on Saturday. I had a bit of a packing mission the night before but everything was fine for our bus trip to Heathrow. We flew Air New Zealand via LA in order to get the 32 kg 2 vase baggage allowance instead of 20 kg via Asia. The flights were good and Air New Zealand now has on demand movies and games so I must have seen about 8 films. Los Angeles was a bit of a bummer. Even though we were in transit had to wait 90 mins to clear customs. Susan and I were pretty much the last in the queue so when we had got through customs it was time to hop back on the plane again…. Gutting!

We arrived in Auckland before 6am this morning and then waited to travel to Palmy so I think we have been travelling for well over 36 hours. Shame, I never sleep while travelling. I’m sure I will feel the effects of this tomorrow.

It’s great to be back home with our wide roads and one story houses. It rocks here!

My Whangarei B’day

by James on Dec.06, 2005, under New Zealand

We have been in New Zealand for over a week now. In fact it’s soon time to fly back to the UK via Hong Kong. We have been spending the last few days with my parents in Whangarei. I spent my birthday shopping for clothes. Sad I know but Susan made me do it. After Susan escapade Glasson’s has asked me inform them next time we are coming into the country so they can get in more clothes and tell the shareholders to expect a dividend.

We munched our way through a couple of cakes and found time to go swimming at the beach and go fishing so it was a very relaxing. Susan has fallen in love with my parents shower. Mind you it’s more of an entertainment package than a shower. Complete with massage jets, steamer, radio and a CD changer. You could easily never leave it. The problem is no Susan wants one so thanks heaps Mum and Dad.

Sunburnt in Wellington

by James on Dec.01, 2005, under New Zealand

While at Susan’s folks I decided to do the decent thing and get down to Wellington. It hasn’t changed much mostly the same faces at work and it was great catching up with some of my good friends again. On Wednesday I was sitting out in my friend Johns garden for the afternoon. On the way to the train station he commented that I must have been skiing recently and it was about then that I realised I was pretty badly sunburnt. While on the train from Petone to Wellington city a Maori boy mocked me by asking “Hey bro did you fall asleep on the beach?” Not that I blame hit I too would have taken a stab if I had seen a bright red pommy lobster wearing a green T-shirt.

Me days later at the wedding

In my defence I haven’t seem the sun for a month or so… in fact I don’t expect that green tee and shorts to see the light of day for a good few months when we get back to Bristol.

NZ Paradise minus the rain

by James on Nov.27, 2005, under New Zealand

Well things are going okay in New Zealand. Everyone is so friendly. People ask you how you are in shops and seem to care. One thing Susan and I both noticed was everyone talks very funny here ;-)
The weathers not so hot but hey you can’t have everything.
I am hoping to goto Wellington tomorrow, so maybe see some of you then.

Living in Levin

by James on Nov.27, 2005, under New Zealand

We got here safe and sound.
Maybe a little tired but there you go.

Anyway we have cell numbers while we are here.

Susan’s is 02102207337
Mine should be 0211026360 but I can’t get it to work in my UK cell and have just managed to lock the SIM so you will probally need to phone Susan.
